Hi Church,
My message on Sunday was called “What Kind of Man Is This?”
Matthew 8 invites us to ask the disciples’ searching question: “What kind of man is this?” In every scene, Jesus reveals both His heart and His authority. He willingly touches the unclean, receives the faith of an outsider, carries our sickness with compassion, calls us to put God’s kingdom first, stills the raging sea, and confronts evil with a word.
This is not merely a collection of remarkable miracles. Matthew is showing us Jesus—the Son of Man, the Son of God, and God with us. No person is beyond His reach, no storm is greater than His power, and no bondage is stronger than His authority. Yet His presence also asks something of us: will we respond with faith, or retreat in fear when He challenges our comfort and way of life? This week, let us welcome Jesus into every part of our lives. Trust His word when circumstances feel uncertain. Draw near to people others avoid. See need and respond with compassion. Choose the kingdom over convenience, and faith over fear. Above all, do not simply admire Jesus from a distance. Know Him, worship Him, and follow Him as Saviour and Lord. I really sensed the Holy Spirit drawing us closer to Jesus at the ministry time. Let’s continue to press in.
Another great moment we enjoyed together over the weekend was the combined churches of Port Macquarie worship night. It was so encouraging to be gathered with nearly 200 other believers lifting the name of Jesus and praying for our city and celebrating the work of SRE throughout the public schools. This work needs to be prayed for and given towards regularly, to ensure its continuation. We especially need more hero teachers who will dedicate the time to reach lost souls for Jesus. Please consider how you can play a part in that.
With you in the Journey,
Ps Greg and Amanda
