Hi Church,
I’m writing this update from a Worship School Conference at Hope UC Church led by Darlene and Mark Zschech. These guys are great leaders doing an amazing ministry. Deb and Sloan and three others on the worship team have taken the time to soak up all the wisdom and ideas of this vibrant faith community.
Last weekend Pastor Debbie took us deep into the word of Matthew chapter 7 and it finished a particular close look at the Sermon on the Mount delivered by Jesus as he was establishing the ethics of his new Kingdom coming to earth.
There were a few key thoughts that caught my attention with Debs message. “We need humility to give up our own way so that Jesus can fully reign in our life with his way.” (Sorry Deb if I miss quoted but that was the general gist). Its only fitting that as Jesus started his sermon with the Meek shall inherit the earth, that he ends with a call for us to deal with our own faults (planks in eye) before we start dealing with other people’s faults (specks in eye). The only way to do that is humbling ourselves and realising we are poor and needy in spirit and we need His grace to live the kingdom life.
I also loved her videos of the Sheep and how they respond to the true voice of the Shepherd. When I saw the sheep running My Spirit lept within because it demonstrated so well, that when collectively we hear and respond in obedience to The Shepherds voice we can move quickly and significantly into the work and purpose that God has prophetically called us into.
Deb said a lot more so I encourage you all to revisit and soak up all the truth of her encouragement to us. This Sunday coming is Father’s Day and I love the fun we have together as family and of course the Donuts for morning tea. Ross Nacarrow will bring the word to us and will have an update about the disaster relief in Nepal. Let’s be ready to be generous.
